Akshay Kumar talks about importance of building toilets
Mumbai,Mar 24 : Bollywood star Akshay Kumar expressed concern about insufficient toilets in the country.
The 49-year-old actor, who recently finished shooting his movie “WC: Ek Prem Katha”, took on Twitter to share a video in which he addresses the issue of open defecation.
“I did not know if I should discuss it with you all, because I knew that many would think it was just a publicity stunt for my upcoming movie. You’re right to think so. Think this topic needs to discuss, “he said in the video.
Akshay encouraged people to build more toilets and voiced concerns about the consequences, especially poor women have to face due to lack of access to the toilet.
“In a super power like India, many people, especially ladies can not go to the toilet when their body needs to because they do not have toilets in their homes and they need to defecate in open … I am afraid of women may have to deal with serious health problems because they are unable to go to meet the call of nature when the body requires, which can spread among children as well.
The actor also invited people to help build more toilets.
“We give gifts in temples, gurudwaras, churches and masjid for blessings, can not we give 10 percent of this gift to build a toilet for the poor.
