‘Dangal’ propels Aamir to get 5.86 lakh followers on Chinese social media
Beijing, May 19 : The popularity of Aamir Khan in China has surpassed the success of his film “Dangal” and now his account of Chinese microblogging site also crossed 5.86 lakh followers exceeding that of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
The 51-year-old superstar account on Weibo, one of China’s most popular social websites, received 5.86.591 followers until tonight.
Modi, who opened the account on Weibo in 2015 before his visit to China, was the most popular Indian with 1.69 lakhs.
It continues to update its publication with events related to China.
Khan’s account, called “Amier Han” in Chinese, was opened last month before the release of the biographical sports drama, which became a brutal success in China, costing 500 million yuan (about USD 76 million) in 13 days, even in Hollywood movies in China.
“Last Saturday, he set a new record of 96 million yuan (about USD 15 million),” Prasad Shetty, a partner of the Strategic Alliance, a Chinese company promoting Indian films in China in recent years told PTI here .
Aamir himself visited Beijing, Shanghai and Chengdu before the release of the film.
