George Clooney to return to TV with ‘Catch-22’
Los Angeles, Nov 17 : Actor George Clooney will direct and play in the dramatic miniseries “Catch-22”, returning to television after 20 years.
The series is based on the 1961 eponymous novel by author Joseph Heller, reported Variety.
Located in Italy, the six-part series follows the story of Yossarian, a US Air Force bomber who does not like the growing number of flying missions being assigned. He is irritated by a bureaucratic rule, Catch-22, which specifies that worrying about one’s safety is evidence of mental health.
The 56-year-old actor will play Colonel Cathcart, commander of Yossarian.
Clooney and Grant Heslov, who are executive producers, will lead the limited series.
The episodes of the series were written by Luke Davies and David Michod, who are also executives producing the project.
Clooney’s passage for a television series was in the medical drama “E R” in the early 1990s.
