Not always able to select trend-following films: Nawazuddin
New Delhi, Sep 11 PTI : Nawazuddin Siddiqui tries to find a good balance between commercial cinema and independent cinema, but the actor says he still feels a little hesitant to accept a typical masala film because he often fails to deliver performances.
Despite being part of several commercial successes such as “Badlapur”, “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” and “Raees,” the 43-year-old actor said it’s his low budget films that kick him to explore various aspects an artist.
“I’m not always able to select movies that follow a particular trend. All my solo films such as “Manjhi” and “Raman Raghav 2.0” are different. These are not typical Bollywood films, generally appreciated by the public.
“The kind of movies I make, may be difficult to understand, but they have a lot of room for maneuver, which I enjoy the most,” Nawaz told PTI.
The recent release of the actor “Babumoshai Bandookbaaz” has made decent business at the box office and the actor affirms that he never thought that the film would receive positive comments because it had an “adult” content.
“The film had a limited budget and the content was also adult, so we were afraid that people would come to the theaters to watch it.
“We were not sure about the company because we had made a quite different movie and besharam, because the characters could not be similar, but I’m glad that the people from the small towns visited the film and loved him. “
“Babumoshai Bandookbaaz”, however, could not impress the critics of the film, which disapproved its content, but Nawazuddin said what counts most for him is the reception by the audience.
“Nowadays, any critic can make a film the way he wants. Everyone knows that they would criticize only.
Some of them are biased. They often appreciate only certain people because of groupism.
“I’m not saying all the critics are the same, but for me, the most important thing is how the audience reacts to my film.
What would I do with four stars if nobody shows up for my movie? So what the public thinks is the most important thing, “he said.
Nawaz is known to say his mind – whether it’s taking nepotism or his remarks about the existence of racism in Bollywood – he once again proved that he is an intrepid star in the industry.
“You should always express what you feel and never be afraid to highlight your opinions, whatever the difficulty of the situation, and I think I have won this place where I can express my views if I think something is wrong “.
Nawaz recently called the Bollywood stars to endorse equity creams and the actor keeps his stand.
“Promoting a fairness cream is fornication, and the stars have to stop endorsing it.” I continue to say this and I will always say that people should be ashamed to endorse equity creams.
