Prakash Jha hails Naseeruddin’s support to ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha”
Kolkata, Jul 20 PTI : The filmmaker Prakash Jha thanked the actors Naseeruddin Shah and Arjun Kapoor for joining the movement “The Revolution #MenForLipstick” which was launched as part of the promotions for its production “Lipstick Under My Burkha”.
“They (Shah and Arjun) did much by joining the lipstick revolution,” Jha told reporters after the special screening of “Lipstick Under My Burkha” here.
“It is very important for men to understand and treat women as equal and respectful.”
Jha called “Lipstick Under My Burkha” a handsome artist with an interesting story and praised his director, Alankrita Shrivastava.
“It was all the director’s job to do the casting,” Jha said of the film, which includes Konkona Sen Sharma, Ratna Pathak Shah, Plabita Borthakur and Vikrant Massey. He’s free tomorrow.
The film had problems with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), which had refused certification.
Asked about CBFC’s dubious recommendations to the films, Jha said the Union government should adopt the suggestions of the “Beny Shyam Committee” which proposed additional categories of classification.
“I encourage the government to adopt the recommendations as soon as possible. There should be a good classification of adult content and violent content in the movies so that viewers can judge beforehand.
“What I see, what I want to eat, where I want to go, is absolutely my right,” he added.
On the issue of nepotism, Jha, without going into details, said: “Nepotism can not be loved by anyone.” Nepotism can not be good, we should respect the talent of more.
When asked why he was not making a Bengali film, Jha said, “I need to know and understand the language to work on a film.
