‘Quantico’ star Russell Tovey to play gay superhero

Los Angeles, Sep 23 PTI : British gay actor “Quantico” Russell Tovey is ready to play the gay superhero, The Ray, in the Arrow-verse cross.

Raymond “Ray” Terrill is described as a journalist who discovered a group of government scientists working on a secret project to turn light into a weapon of mass destruction. But before he could report on his findings, the head of the project exposed Ray to a “genetic bomb”.

The bomb failed to kill him and instead scratched Ray with light powers. With these abilities, Ray realized that he could go beyond the statement about the injustice he might take to help him stop him. By calling himself Ray, he was recruited by Uncle Sam and the Freedom Fighters to fight against violence and oppression wherever he exists.

The CW network first announced the character in early August to lead the animated series “Freedom Fighters: The Ray,” produced by Arrow co-creator Greg Berlanti, reported Entertainment Weekly.

The next crossing event will begin on Monday, November 27th and will end on Tuesday, November 28th.

The Ray joined other LGBTQ characters in the series, such as Sara Lance (Caity Lotz) on “Legends”, Captain David Singh (Patrick Sabongui) of Central City on “The Flash” and Alex Danvers (Chyler Leigh) on “Supergirl “.
