Want to come out of comic avatar space: Deepak Dobriyal
Mumbai, Sep 14 PTI : His most notable role may have been the hilarious Pappiji of Anand L Rai’s “Tanu Weds Manu” movies, but actor Deepak Dobriyal says he has finished playing the popular character.
Pappi of Dobriyal in the romantic comedy 2011 has earned him much appreciation. The actor then resumed the game in “Tanu Weds Manu Returns”.
“I played this part light in” Tanu Weds Manu “, then in his suite and I received offers more or less similar. I agree with a lot of popularity and roles because of this franchise but I do not want to do it again, “Dobriyal told PTI.
The actor was last seen at Irrfan Khan-starrer “Hindi Medium” and he said the movie helped him break the stereotypical image that many had about him.
“I want to get out of this comic space of the avatar because it was becoming repetitive, it was” Hindi Medium “that broke the perception of being a comedian.If I do another type of comedy in a movie then I only will do it.”
The actor says he is not eager to play on Pappi’s part again, if the third set of “Tanu Weds Manu” is ever made.
“I’m tired of doing this part of Pappiji. I’m a little irritated with the character because there is no beginning and end to that person’s life – like why is he a loser in the movie, d ‘where is he, and his parents.
“I will not do it (third part) I’m tired I left that character of Pappi in 2015. I’ll do comedy but of a different type.”
In his career of more than a decade, Dobriyal has shared screen space with big actors like Salman Khan, Kangana Ranaut, Saif Ali Khan, Farhan Akhtar and others, and he says he never had to hit the doors of all filmmakers to work.
“I think your work should speak for itself. I do not have the attitude of begging for work, I rather expect the filmmakers to offer me good plays.
“Earlier, my name appeared last in the credit section of the actors, but today (the name) appears second or third on the list, what can I ask for. I do not want to have control, I “Well, I’m playing a leading or supportive role, and I do not want to play a role as a count to do it,” he said.
Dobriyal is currently preparing for the release of “Lucknow Central”, in which he plays the role of Bengali, Victor Chattopadhyay, who is in prison due to some mistakes he made in his earliest days.
